Newman's Notes: This is the first issue that started a trend of better and better issues of The Underground. Virtually no one got the concept behind the "Those Damn Welsh!" headline, but all the other articles were received very well. I consider "America Online Is Evil" one of the best articles ever; it just missed inclusion in the voting for Best Article (any more than seven choices would really be too much). That and "John Grisham To Write Law-Related Novel" were well-liked by the Cardinal Newsies, "Swenson" was well-liked by Mr. Swenson, and "'Sausage' For Sale" was well liked by all the sickos who read The Underground (there are quite a few out there, and even quite a few on the staff). "White Boy Keyboard Jazz" also chronicled the beginnings of a band known as Astronaut Ice Cream Headache. * Only on The Underground Online |
